Orcinus have been supporters of the South West Chef of the Year since 2011, we help spread the word of this great competition, which encourages Chefs of all genres to get excited about local produce and show case their skills publically to many big names in the industry.

This year, we were proud sponsors of the competition and will be supporting the award of ‘Best Dish’.

The competition was extremely close in this year’s South West Chef of the Year!  Exceptional culinary skills, not to mention nerves of steel, helped our finalists to prepare dishes of the highest standard.

The judges were very excited by the quality of cooking on display and much discussion was required to select the winners.

Dan Adkins Best Dish Winner of South West Chef of the Year 2014The winner of Best Dish was awarded to Dan Adkin, demi chef de partie at Lucknam Park, Bath, in the Young Professional class, for his main course dish of roasted chicken breast, celeriac fondants, seasonal autumn greens, red wine jus, wild mushrooms.

 

 

 

 

Dan Adkin was also the winner of Best Menu award with his menu of:

Starter: Soused mackerel, pickled carrots, lemon crème fraîche.

Main: Roasted chicken breast, celeriac fondants, seasonal autumn greens, red wine jus, wild mushrooms.

Dessert: Hazelnut parfait, honey roast hazelnuts & caramelised pear.
