Skydive for Hospitality Action
During May 2013, Orcinus, the leading Fresh Food Lead Hospitality recruiters, invited like-minded professionals to join them in an epic Skydive. The idea for the skydive was orchestrated by director Sarah King who has an extensive career across the hospitality sector and wanted to raise awareness for the charity Hospitality Action.
Sarah gathered the support of 10 hospitality professionals with the bravery to participate. This 10,000+ ft freefall was set to conicide with Hospitality Actions Annual Awareness Week on Tuesday 14th May 2013, however the great British weather was not on our side.
Paul Down (Head Chef of The Running Horse, Winchester) was the first to jump on 4th May from Old Sarum in Wiltshire. We think he had the time of his life. (see photo left)
Sarah King, Dave Barber (Orcinus Recruit) and Duncan Jones (Head Chef of The Bell at Ramsbury) patiently waited over 9 hours for the skies to clear on 21st May at the Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent. A break in the clouds finally appeared allowing us to jump.
Adam Harty, (Head Chef of Botley Park Hotel) took to the skies on the 8th June.
Both Paul and Adam were brave enough to go the extra mile, jumping from 15,000ft instead of 10,000ft.
On the 2nd of July the final 5 of our jumpers took to the sky, Chris Sullivan, Megan and Jodie Lynch, William Sutcliffe and Jack Luby (All linked to Chapter One, Kent and Chapters All Day Dining, London). It was Third time lucky for the remaining team, although a little cloudy they all successfully plummeted from the sky having a thoroughly good time, with yells of joy heard from miles around.
The final count is in for the total raised for Hospitality Action, an impressive £1,689. Well done to all the guys and gals for all your efforts!!
